Clean Water. Safe Schools. Strong Futures.
Clean Water. Safe Schools. Strong Futures.

Ghana Mission Trip –

Through the International Trends and Services (ITS) facet of the Patuxent River (MD) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, we are proud to support a growing partnership with a school community in Tema, Ghana. Our work is grounded in a shared commitment to education, global citizenship, and sustainable community impact.

Over the past several years, our chapter has built meaningful relationships with students, educators, and community leaders in Tema. Through this partnership, we have supported the school with educational engagement, cultural exchange, and initiatives designed to strengthen opportunities for students.

These efforts have also created a powerful connection between young people in Ghana and students in our own community, fostering global awareness, friendship, and shared learning.

As our partnership has grown, so has our commitment to supporting the long-term needs of the school and the surrounding community.

Our Impact Initiatives

Clean Water Access

Access to safe, reliable water is essential for health, hygiene, and learning.

Through this initiative we will:

  • Install boreholes to provide sustainable access to clean groundwater
  • Provide rainwater collection and storage systems to capture and store clean water for school use

Helping to ensure the school has a dependable water source for students and staff.

School Infrastructure Improvements

We are working to strengthen the physical learning environment by supporting key facility upgrades, including:

  • Installing a new roof for portions of the school building
  • Painting/repairing classrooms and shared spaces
  • Renovating restroom facilities with new bathroom stalls and sinks to improve sanitation and student health

Creating a safer, more welcoming environment where students can focus on learning.

Safe and Accessible School Grounds

During the rainy season, the school grounds often flood, making it difficult for students to safely access the campus.

To address this challenge, we are working to:

  • Improve and pave the school driveway and surrounding grounds

Ensuring that students can reach school safely and consistently—even during heavy rains.

Build a Lasting Partnership

Our work in Tema is about more than a single trip or project. It represents an ongoing partnership built on mutual respect, collaboration, and a shared belief in the power of education.

Through this partnership we hope to:

  • Strengthen educational opportunities for students in Tema
  • Promote global awareness and cultural connection between communities
  • Support sustainable improvements that benefit the school for years to come

Together, these efforts help create a stronger, healthier learning environment for the students and families we serve.
