Greetings! On behalf of the members of The Patuxent River (MD) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated it is my pleasure to welcome you to our website.
The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. The membership consists of over 15,000 professional women of color in 288 chapters located in 42 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom.
It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.
The Patuxent River (MD) Chapter is one of those 288 Chapters. Our chapter is comprised of dynamic women from a wide variety of professional backgrounds - such as doctors, lawyers, politicians, corporate and government executives, educators, business owners and many more - who voluntarily work towards a common vision that is linked in friendship and connected through service. It is with great pride that I lead this extraordinary organization of talented and committed women.
I am proud to say since our chartering in June 2014 the passionate and exemplary members of the Patuxent River (MD) Chapter have contributed thousands of service hours to make a difference in the Upper Montgomery County Maryland community through five facets. They are: Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services. Since our inception we have maintained friendships and established mutually beneficial associations, while demonstrating extraordinary commitment to programs and activities. Some examples are uplifting young girls through our Global Minded Empowered and Motivated for Success (GEMS) Program; donating computers and supplies to students in Haiti and Ghana; conducting voter registration drives; providing support to the homeless community; sponsoring health and financial wellness events; and other programming for the betterment of humanity, nationally and internationally. Our overall vision is to provide transformational programs and stellar services while fulfilling our purpose through friendship and service.
As you peruse our website and learn more about who we are and what we do, I invite you to join us as we continue to offer transformational programs and services that enrich the quality of life of the residents of Upper Montgomery County.
